My biography

Hi, girls, boys and intersex people!

Let me introduce to you all...

I am Catalina, I was born in Los Ángeles of Chile and raise there until my 16 years (By the way, L.A. is really boring, don't go there, you will regreat it... thanks me later). When I was 9 my parents divorced and I lived with my mom and sister until she went to university. Today we all live together again, but in Santiago (worst city ever).

Since I was a child I did love to write little stories, draw and sing (I think I am good at this last one xD) and I still doing it, but it less common that in those years.

My first school was "Woodland", an english school from my city (not really good, I still don't speaking english). In There I met a 4 great friends at age of 6 years, and it is really nice still being close of those wonderful women.

When I was 13 years old I change of school, this time was a public school of girls called "The 4 school". That year was really hard, I have to used to my new schoolmates, and I was not good meeting new people at that age. Today I don't talk with anyone of that school, but maybe it's because I went there 1 year only.

At the next year I change again to a public high school named "The A-59" and I stay there for 2 years. My first year was hard because I don't used to study to get good marks, but in those days was necesary. I met nice people and also my best friend, curiously named like my "Catalina". In the middle of my second year in there I knew that my mom get a promotion on her work so we would have to move to Concepción the next year. I really was angry for that new, it take me a lot of time accept that I would left my friends behind, but time after I understand that it wasn't be like that.

In 2015 I start to went to "The Brasil school" in Concepción. The change of city, meeting new people really help me to grow up as I see now. I make great friends and I start to care about politic, I mean, how we live in this society and in this system (capitalist and patriarchal) that opress us. Instead, I left all me free time in activism and less and things like my hobbies :'( (I mean sing, write and that things).

Today I am in my second year studying Cinema and TV at the University of Chile, I've spend a great time here but I know it is so much more to come.

The blog experience

Hi everyone, again! Maybe this is the last time u.u Today I am goint to talk about this experience of writting a blog. I think it was a good thing to do. I liked to tell about my hobbies, passions, opinions in another language. I did never do this before, so I think it was nice to live it. The thing I enjoy most was reading the comments and to have seen how we laugh and get fun with the others blogs. It was like to create a bond between us. If I remember how I start this class and now, I can see how much my vocabulary has grown, the way I put into word my ideas, etc. It is different from then. And it may be all because of this blogs, or I suppose so. But there was a lot of themes I would like to talk about, like making political opinions about different things, about our best friend/s, the season we like most of the year and why, and that kind of stuffs. Film "Bread and Roses"

Hi! Today I'm going to talk about the film "Bread and Roses" (2000). If I would have to decide if I liked this movie or not I really wouldn't know what to say. But one thing I am sure is that this movie is very interesting, because describe the opression of workers and the class conflict but also, the opression of inmigrant people and the patriarchal society in a very rude way, the real one. This is a story of the opressed people in USA. One character who got my attention was Maya. I saw in her a woman who doesn't give up, a brave woman with an amazing strength who even with everything against her she would rise and stand up for what she believe. I think the scene who caught her essence was when she goes with Ruben to the School of Law for the first time and Ruben tells her he love her and she answer him that she is interested on Sam. PRIDE

Hello again! Today I wanna talk about the movie "PRIDE". I think is an interesting movie, it show us the activism world of the opressed people in England in the 80's, or at least of a groups of them.  I really like this kind of movies that represent the rebel stories, people who foughts on the streets for their rights, people who was silent for many years, people who never gave up even if the whole world were against them, in this case the LGTB community and the mineworkers. I would totally recommend this film. But also was many things that I didn't like about how it was put on the story. If I have to choose one character I like, I think she would be Sian, because her personality and determination. I've already mentioned the things I like, so now I'll say the ones I don't.
